The Forgotten Document-Oriented Database Management Systems: An Overview and Benchmark of Native XML DODBMSes in Comparison with JSON DODBMSes

چکیده
In the current context of Big Data, a multitude new NoSQL solutions for storing, managing, and extracting information patterns from semi-structured data have been proposed implemented. These were developed to relieve issue rigid structures present in relational databases, by introducing flexible schema design. As generated different sources devices, especially IoT sensors actuators, use either XML or JSON format, depending on application, database technologies that store query format are needed. Thus, Native Databases, which initially designed manipulate using standardized querying languages, i.e., XQuery XPath, rebranded as Document-Oriented Databases Systems. Currently, majority these replaced with more modern based Database Management However, we believe XML-based can still deliver performance executing complex queries heterogeneous collections. Unfortunately nowadays, research lacks clear comparison scalability documents versus format. Moreover, best our knowledge, there no Data-compliant benchmarks such technologies. this paper, selected Systems encode documents, BaseX, eXist-db, Sedna, MongoDB, CouchDB, Couchbase. To underline differences also propose benchmark uses large DBLP corpus.

متن کاملOn Indexing in Native XML Database Systems
Database indices are fundamental data structures that improve the speed of data retrieval operations. In this paper, we focus on native XML database systems and provide an elementary survey of existing approaches for indexing semistructured data employed in selected academic open-source systems. Considering the requirements set for a particular system, ExDB, and the results of the accomplished ...
